Rich Learning Environments

Teina Cottage
The Hibiscus Nursery is for infants from 3 months to 18 months who benefit from being together in the little cottage at the back of the main building. It is a quiet, peaceful setting with their own teachers, experienced in baby care. They receive a full programme of developmental learning through play experiences. They also enjoy being in their own natural garden.
"Infants need the security of knowing that their emotional and physical needs will be met in predictable ways" and for that reason we partner with parents to learn and follow the routines established in the child’s home.
Parents are welcome to spend time in the Teina Cottage as their baby transitions and forms new attachments.
Tuakana Room
In the Tuakana Learning Room children will develop key competencies, skills and knowledge through choosing to play in a variety of rich, well - resourced learning areas. Here they can think, create and discover according to their preferences.
The outdoor environment also brings a wealth of similar learning opportunities.
As featured in the Reggio Emilia philosophy we run an ‘atelier room’ where priority is given to art experiences in a permanent art area which encourages imagination and creativity.
Another key learning priority is the development of social and emotional competencies so that friendships and social connections are confidently established through good self regulation.
We acknowledge the significance of early, emerging literacy and mathematical skills as a further priority and grow these competencies in our learning programmes across all age groups.
